Closure on Hold
1 October 2024
The planned closure of the business is currently on hold. We have received interest from several potential buyers, and we are in discussions regarding the future of the business. As a result, automatic cancellation of accounts will no longer take place as initially communicated and account syncing will work as normal.
We will keep you updated as developments unfold. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Cheers

Banksync is Closing Down
29 September 2024
After five years of providing synchronisation of bank transactions to YNAB, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue Banksync.
What this means for you
-
Service Termination
Banksync will cease operations at the end of October 2024. -
Subscription Management
All active subscriptions will automatically cancel upon their expiration date in October. No further action is required on your part regarding subscription cancellation. -
Account Closure
Your account will be automatically closed following the cancellation of your subscription. -
Data Handling
Upon account closure, all user banking data stored on our systems will be permanently deleted. Some data may persist in backups for up to 30 days.
Please note: This deletion does not affect any data you have synced or stored within YNAB (You Need A Budget).
We appreciate your support of Banksync over the years.
Sincerely,
Travis
Email Notifications
27 January 2022
We are pleased to announce a new feature in the web app this month: you can now choose to receive an email notification whenever there is an outage or problem with one of your bank connections.
This may be due to credentials needing to be updated, a bank popup preventing transactions being retrieved or an unexpected outage.
To enable this feature simply log in to your account, go to the settings menu and click the switch next to "Email Notifications".

Multi Factor Authentication
15 June 2021
Today we are announcing the addition of multi-factor authentication to further secure your account with us.
Multi-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security so that even if your usual password is compromised, your account is still safe. When multi-factor authentication is enabled, a short-lived code is required to be entered to complete the sign-in process.
For those that are using "Sign in with Google", your account was already protected with multi-factor authentication if you have enabled it with Google.
To set up multi-factor authentication head to the settings page and click "enable" to get started. You will need an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
If you have any questions about getting started with multi-factor for your account please get in touch!

New Basiq Connection Page
28 October 2020
We've just updated the way users connect to their banks with our financial data partner Basiq!
Instead of using the Basiq embedded Connect UI users are now directed to a page hosted by Basiq to securely enter banking credentials. This has a number of benefits including verification by SMS message and prevents issues with third party cookies.
Existing users won't see any change until you need to connect a new bank or update your banking credentials.

Our financial data provider had dropped support at the end of last year but happily support has now been re-added.
BNZ is still in a beta release so please reach out and let us know if you encounter any issues.

Transaction Description as Payee and Memo
5 March 2020
Hi everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that you can now choose to use the bank transaction description for both the YNAB Payee and Memo.
Previously you could only choose one or the other, but now you can select any combination (including none if you want!).
To make any changes head to the Settings menu where there are two switches at the top of the menu. If you're happy with your current setup there's no need to make any changes - things will continue to work as normal.️
Please get in contact with us if you have any other improvements you would like to see! 😃

Multiple Budgets Support!
26 February 2020
We're excited to announce that you can now sync to multiple budgets! There is no longer a separate "Budgets" menu, you now can choose an individual budget per bank account in the "Accounts" menu.
There are no limitations to how many budgets you can sync to and from which banks/accounts
Existing customers don't need to make any changes - accounts will continue to sync normally to YNAB. If you would like to sync to more budgets simply login and configure them in the "Accounts" menu.
Bye for now,
Travis
Account Nicknames
9 February 2020
Hi everyone! Last week we rolled out a small feature that allows you to give each bank connection a nickname. To do this first navigate to the "Banks" page. For each bank connection there is an icon with three small vertical dots in the upper right hand corner. Click on this and select "Edit nickname". Now simply enter a nickname and click the tick when done! This should make managing multiple connections to the same bank much easier.
If you've got any feedback on this feature or would like to see anything else added please don't hesitate to get in touch and let us know.

Happy New Year!
27 January 2020
Happy New Year from Bank Sync for YNAB! To kick off the year we've overhauled our website to give it a more modern look. Behind the scenes we have been improving the service to give better syncing performance. At the moment we are nearing completion of multiple budget support so if it's something you've been waiting for it won't be much longer now.
I hope you've had a great start to the year, I'll be back with more updates soon.

Number of Days to Initially Sync
29 December 2019
Another week another update! You can now choose to import cleared transactions up to 10 days prior to the day you link a bank account.
For new users the option is shown when setting up your account. For existing users there is a new option in the Settings menu should you wish to adjust it from the default.
This setting only takes effect for when you link a bank account. Already linked bank accounts are unaffected.
The next big feature being worked on now is multiple budgets support.
Bye for now!

Sync on Signup, Manual Sync and More Syncing Information
23 December 2019
We've just released some minor updates to give a better sign up experience and more feedback on when your syncs are occurring.
Now when you complete the sign up process there will be an immediate sync with your accounts. In addition, you can now manually force a sync up to once per hour.
On the home page of the app you can see more information about whether a sync is running and when the last sync was completed.
If you've got any feedback on these features be sure to let us know!

Transaction Description as YNAB Payee
19 December 2019
Hi there!
Since launching Bank Sync for YNAB three weeks ago we have been hard at work making improvements. A lot of these have been behind the scenes, but you may have noticed some improvements such as automatic matching of existing transactions.
Today we have made available an option to import bank transaction descriptions as the payee in YNAB. This will allow transactions to be auto-categorised, saving you even more time keeping your budget up to date. Existing users can enable this right now by selecting 'Use Transaction Description as Payee' in the settings menu. This is now the default option for new users.
So what's going to be improved next? Over the next few weeks we will be adding more features including:
- Multiple budgets support
- Manual sync on demand
- More information on when syncing is occurring
If there's any other features you want to see in Bank Sync for YNAB then don't hesitate to get in touch with us using the contact button on the website!
Bye for now,
Travis
